Diagnosing health conditions and treating injuries has its challenges. Yet compared to the stress or grief a person endures who is suffering from pain or illness, it puts things in perspective - that it’s all about the patient. However, whether a patient improves quickly or requires prolonged care, it becomes apparent that the pains and conditions people have are often more deeply rooted than they understand. Let me share some insight regarding the perception of health and the choices you can make about yours.
My foremost attention and purpose is as a chiropractic physician - providing treatment for relieving aches and pains and improving overall health and well being.
To be more specifid, my aim is to improve muscle and joint health, restore neurological balance and function, and treat injuries whether they are simple or from more severe work or auto accidents.
I enjoy the opportunity to help people improve their health and have treated a diverse population, from babies just a few weeks old to elderly folks over 100! Regardless of age or condition, each patient is unique and has specific needs. If you are coming to us seeking care for injuries or health problems we look forward to meeting you and will do our best to help.
I especially enjoy treating children - they respond so well and have such a great opportunity to avoid the pitfalls of poor health. Of course there are many patients with other challenges. Did you know I treat several patients with spinal fusions and even some with neurological disorders? Yet most have a variety of concerns that all deserve better options. Regardless of what brings people in, most of our patients return and refer because they understand and enjoy the benefits that come from a more natural restoration of health!
However, as a doctor of chiropractic and simply a health conscious individual, I have become increasingly attentive to providing broader services and recommendations for the escalating health concerns of my patients. Our 'modern' society is losing sight of health to the hands of greater financial interests, but to the demise of the human condition, and at a horrific cost.
Evidence is growing from public awareness as well as valid research and medical journals that our accepted medical management of 'health' is simply failing. While medical advances are prolonging lives in states of illness, preventative health measures are far from effective. Regardless of claims of medical progress, more individuals are taking their health interests into their own hands and even medical advice is beginning to include more recommendations toward natural remedies and improved fundamental lifestyle practices.
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), although for the longest time was scoffed at if not considered quackery, is now used significantly more than conventional medicine. In fact since 1990, more individuals have been making visits to CAM providers, chiropractors being the largest sector, than to medical practitioners. A comprehensive study published in 1997 by Dr. David Eisenberg, a Harvard MD, documented that in that year alone, 630 million visits were made to CAM practitioners compared with only 386 mil visits to medical doctors, and that trend has only continued to grow.
Even though chiropractors are licensed as primary care physicians, chiropractic is usually considered adjunctive care. However the public needs to understand that DC's don't simply adjust joints, that while we don't use pharmacology to treat disease, our training is to focus on restoring health of the body as a whole. In that regard, some DC's are relied on as primary providers by their patients because they provide broader service for improved overall health and wellness.
Please understand that I believe whole heartedly in good health measures. While my focus is natural health care, I don't mean to disregard proper attention to severe conditions or emergency health crises, and I never mean to imply to anyone that critical conditions don't require extreme attention. Our country's medical profession is the best in the world in that regard.
However it should be understood that restoring true health may take time, patience and persistent effort. The poor guidence that has led us to this epidemic of failed health cannot be changed overnight and it will never be remedied with drugs. But the good news is that resurrecting health and even reversing many degenerative disease conditions is not uncommon with more people accomplishing successful results with natural alternatives.
Please consider our attention to providing broader health objectives including nutritional health services and other holistic practices. Many patients learn that the greatest influence of health conditions stem from causes that can be changed and improved upon when we are shown the means to do so.
A common misconception of chiropractic is that patients are committed to an intense and lengthy treatment schedule. There are certainly cases that demand prolonged treatments, but I will be up front in discussing those situations. I enjoy the opportunity to help people whether for common aches and pains or more involved conditions, yet I don't believe it's ethical to continue a course of treatments and not inform patients of other underlying aspects of health and lifestyle practices that may be of greater influence on their conditions. In fact, many are pleasantly surprised to learn much about how to better their health and often, in more effective ways.
We would love the opportunity to provide your care. Results can often be attained quickly for some and that's always good news. The excitement that I see more and more is the trend that many are seeking better ways to return to more optimal health practices. Wherever you may fall in the scope of the care you are seeking, give us a call - we're here to help you!
