The following brief outline will demonstrate what you can expect when you begin care at Wilson Chiropractic Center - Visit #1
Your first visit will include important procedures essential to providing you the quality results that you expect. Your first visit may take up to 60 minutes but you can expect a thorough and pleasant experience.
Paperwork
You will be asked to complete a brief health history to help us get to know you and identify your condition. The doctor will use this information to determine the nature and best recommendations for your care.
Patient Education
To acquaint you with our office and explain how we help our patients regain their health, most patients see a short video.
Consultation
You’ll meet the doctor who will discuss your condition, review your health history and determine if yours is a chiropractic case and how we may help you. Some individuals choose a consultation first to discuss their questions or concerns with the doctor while under no obligation, before agreeing to continue with their care program.
Examination
Standard physical, orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic tests will be performed to determine the cause(s) of your problem. This may also include a nutritional assessment when deemed necessary or by request.
X-ray Exam
Necessary views may be taken to visualize the location of any spinal problems, reveal any pathologies, and make your chiropractic care more precise.
Treatment Procedures
In few cases, chiropractic treatment may be rendered on the first day. However, depending on the condition, the doctor may suggest the application of other therapeutic modalities to help in initial phases of treatment for acute injuries, prior to initiation of formal chiropractic care. Nutritional testing may also be used along with other holistic approaches.
Correlation
In most cases, the doctor will study your examination findings before proper care can be rendered. Later, you will see your x-rays, receive a report of the doctor’s findings, and get specific care recommendations.
Next Visit
Your first visit is complete. Plan to spend about 30-40 minutes on your next visit to receive the doctor’s report of findings and chiropractic care.
Welcome Back - Visit #2
Today the doctor will explain the results of your examinations and offer choices for appropriate chiropractic care, nutritional and lifestyle modifications for treating pain, improving overall health, promoting cellular energy and enhanced vitality
Patient Education and Report of Findings
More specific information is provided with x-rays (if taken) and examination findings, which will further describe the nature of your condition. This will aid in your understanding of our care program, the doctor’s recommendations and your potential health benefits through what we have to offer.
Treatment Plan
The doctor will outline a treatment plan designed for your unique condition. This may include one or several of the means described below. The treatments will be designed for the patient’s best outcome, but the scope of treatment will only be applied after the doctor discusses these options and gains approval with the patient.
Questions
Ask questions at anytime. Make sure you fully understand the nature and severity of your condition and what we are doing to help you.
Financial Issues
So we can direct all of our attention to your recovery, the financial responsibility for your case will be discussed.
Treatments
The doctor will typically apply chiropractic adjustments, depending on your case, using carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore the movable bones of your spine to a more normal motion and position. A non hands-on “variable adjuster” instrument may also be used for more delicate or critical cases. Our patients typically enjoy their “adjustments” and often report immediate relief and the beginning of well-being. Soft tissue treatments may be part of your care for conditions that warrant the release of muscle trigger point pain and other muscular dysfunction. Nutritional testing may be performed to detect and apply specific nutrceutical prescriptions, or detailed nutritional and supplement modifications may be necessary to facilitate and promote enhanced cellular and metabolic health and possibly weight loss. Other holistic approaches may also be applied as deemed necessary – please ask the doctor about all the possible treatments that can restore your health and improve healing, aging and a healthy lifestyle.
Adjunctive Procedures
In order to facilitate better healing, additional therapies are often included along with the doctors treatments, especially early on, such as EMS therapy, cold laser therapy or ultrasound. Additionally, many conditions require more comprehensive rehabilitation treatments including physical therapy modalities, trigger point release, and therapeutic massage provided by our in-house massage therapist.
The Future
Your second visit with us is complete. Future visits will typically take less time and focus on specific treatments. As healing and health restoration progresses.
